Purley High Street improvements-Latest

With the help of Purley Councillors, PWRA’s suggestions to upgrade the lighting planned for the refurbishment of Purley High Street and the new Piazza, have elicited a positive response from Croydon Council. The new, sleek, black steel columns will now be fitted with a curved arm and decorative lumieres which will significantly enhance the area’s appearance. PWRA Vice Chairman Gabriel Batki-Braun has also met Council officials to discuss the quality of the workmanship in the High Street and we understand that additional and remedial work will be undertaken.

The PWRA continue to be in contact with Council officials during this improvement project and will post further information when known-watch this space

Welcome to the “Voice of Purley”

For the past 76 years, Purley and Woodcote Residents Association (PWRA) has been the leading 'voice' representing the residents of Purley. As such, plans are now well underway to catapult the Association into the forefront of the communications age.

“The character and the facilities in Purley are constantly under threat which is why the PWRA remains so vigilant.” says PWRA chair, Tarsem Flora “However, with the current speed of change, it is no longer possible to wait a couple of months until our next newsletter before sharing information with our members, and the many other people who have the interests of the area at heart.”

With the help of local communications company Filament, the PWRA have started to raise the profile of Purley in a number of exciting new ways. “We have had a website for a number of years,” said Tarsem “however, we have completely rebuilt it and can now use it to deliver a number of new communications initiatives. Speed of communication, now, has to match the speed of change.”

Webmaster, Tony Farrell says, “Our vision is to use this website as a holistic and flexible communications portal to all things Purley, in order that residents, visitors, and businesses alike can quickly learn about the area with regard to living, working and playing. This will eventually include a press room containing resources for journalists writing about proposed plans and changes to the area.” (read more by clicking here...)
